Any experiance with Winchester safes? Vs. Bighorn 7144EL...

Looking at these two safes, the Winchester is 11 gauge steel, the Bighorn is 3mm - although fire ratings are not UL listed so I don't know how reliable they are, the Winchester says 60min @ 1400*, Bighorn 70min @1200.

Similar price, but the Bighorn is a little bigger - although I do not like the layout inside and think the Winchester is a smarter design. Additionally the Winchester comes with that nice door organizer, and a Lagard or SG lock instead of a re-named "RamSec" on the Bighorn.

Any personal experiences, pro/con?

Put "winchester gunsafe calguns" into google and it will pull of several threads discussing these two safes. I have ta Winchester Silverado and am very pleased with it.

I'm a pretty big fan of Bighorn at this point, but looking at that Winchester and reading the specs you posted, from the looks of it, it seems it's a bit better quality. Provided the price is about the same like you say...

Funny you should ask about these two specific safes. I actually own and use both of them.

They are both solid safes for what they are. The locking mechanism on the Bighorn seems better to me, while the interior seems to be one step ahead on the Winchester. If I were to pick only of of the two, I would go with the Bighorn.

Bumping this - I was looking at these two safes as well as I have way surpassed the capacity of my 60x30.

I really cannot get over the interior on the Bighorn - it just looks terrible compared to the traditional interior like the Winchester has.

From what I see online, the Winchester cheapest price is $1549 without shipping, but it's close enough that I could drive to pick it up.

The Bighorn is available at $1799, and that does include shipping.

Can the Bighorn be ordered with a different interior?

I have a manual S&G lock on my current safe, any reason to swap the electronic for a manual lock or are they pretty bullet proof these days?
