    Stack-on "Gun Safe"

I am very tempted to buy this safe, anyone have experience with Stack-on safes, not their gun lockers?

I e-mailed Stack-on to find out how thick the steel is.

Anyone know the name of that safe cracker that post on CG? I want to know how this safe compares to others in the $1k price range.

    Thanks!

I strongly recommend you head over to thehighroad.org -- a couple of safe experts there have spoken volumes (and I mean VOLUMES) about safes, and "residential security containers" as they are legally known....just search for "RSC" and you'll see what I mean.

I don't recall the usernames of the two experts but it won't be hard to divine after about 2 minutes...

I'm interested. I would like to hear from someone who can tell us more about this safe.

Is it California approved? Last time, I bought a rifle they wanted the safes brand and serial number to see if it was approved. Does Cali have a list of gun safes that are approved or was the clerk wrong?

Stack-On safes aren't even close to the greatest or strongest of economy safes you can buy but they work.

They will stop most thieves who aren't equiped to force their way into a hardened container. Simple tools like a crowbar or ax won't defeat a Stack-On safes quickly and TIME is the enemy of crooks. Noise is also their foe so anything you can do to make getting to your valuables harder, longer, or noisier is a good thing.

This safe is CA approved, I checked the Stack-on site.

              The clerk was incomplete.

Here's the DOJ web page on the subject. And here is the page which describes how a box can be acceptable, without being listed specifically.

I own a Stack On safe and bought it from City Arms. I'm not a safe expert, but I like it.
