Truck handgun safe

I saw these at costa mesa show months ago. A gun safe that bolts under your trucks seat, pops open with touch pad and the mag spings out too.

they were about 160 bucks??? name that safe!

Similar operation. It is a rectangular box with a hinge on the bottom of the door, the door opens and a side box flys open to allowing access to a loaded magazine and the gun in right there...

I'd keep the gun completely unloaded and keep the magazine outside of the safe (in the center console or something).

I think the guy you're talking about (man in his 60's, kind of heavy set) makes the lock boxes himself. I don't know if it's changed recently, but his boxes weren't compliant with current DOJ requirements. The box you are describing, is also a "grey" area device by his own admission. Technically the gun and loaded clip or speed loader are in seperate "containers", but have a common lid. Does this comply to the "seperate locked containers"? It was left for you to decide. But it is a pretty slick design. Simple, but effective.

EB-I don't think he puts a business card out anymore. The new requirements for locking devices pretty much killed his business. He may show up again, I think he did have a version that met the new specs, but it was a little different. In the last couple of years, he seems to show up only once a year or so. Or he could have just thrown the towel in. He was pretty bitter about the whole thing. Can't blame him. I'll keep an out for him at future shows.

Last time i saw him was at costa mesa and he had a lock box and this was after all the doj lock box requirments so who knows. i will be looking out too!

Well, if you want to use this as a SAFE, then if must meet the requirments. However, having it under your seat since it is locking would allow handgun transport, this counts as a locked container.
