Daniel Defense Omega x 9.0 Rail.... Disappointment

I purchased a $300 rail from RifleGear yesterday. A Daniel Defense quad rail.
All I can say is that I was very excited about this expensive purchase but very disappointed at the way it came.

I know many of you guys may hate my post because you are a hardcore Daniel Defense owner and follower, but I am writing about my first experience with Daniel Defense.

The Omega X rail uses a proprietary nut which requires you to remove any existing ring/delta ring from the AR and mount this Daniel Defense ring on which holds on the the Omega X rail.
Pretty cool, DD was innovative to come up with their own design which also requires you to use a tool specifically to be used to mount this ring. Put the ring on, no problem.

This is what is included in the package

Heres where my problem was. The upper rail and the lower rail is held on to the Omega X ring with 2 allen screws each. 3 of the screws were loosened and able to freely spin with the allen key provided, but one of the screws was completely screwed in all the way. It was on so tight which made it impossible to screw it out. Without this allen screw taken out, it is impossible to properly attach this rail.

So, I invest $300 on the rail and it comes this way? C'mon DD. If I spend this much on your rail, it should be perfect and not coming with a problem like this...!

Allen screw is stripped, store will blame me saying that I am the one who stripped the screw and Daniel Defense will probably say the same thing.

Needless to say, I am disappointed at the fact that a product like this would come the way it did. I know you guys are thinking that I was just unlucky with this rail, but when I spend $300 for a rail like DD, these things should not happen.

Now what do I get? I wont be able to exchange it and DD will probably not take my word for it. Now im stuck with a Expensive rail that will not do me any good. I am in the process of contacting with DD so I will post any progress that goes on. I'm sure something will work out fine.

I knew I should've bought the Elite rail.... seemed like a much better design.

I will probably post this on other forums as well. Hopefully I was the only one, and not a bad batch where many will have the same problem. I know DD makes great products, just didn't expect my first purchase to be like this. Maybe they should inspect all the products before leaving the main warehouse to avoid these problems?

    Peter out.

Have you tried calling Riflegear or Daniel Defense or are you just assuming everything?

They make a great product and have great customer service.

Wow, you would think that spending that much for a big name brand rail, you wouldn't run into any problems. Did you get the thing on at least? I remember hearing that DD has great customer service, have you given them a call?

i'm thinking like others that have posted are thinking; contacting the folks that can help you (as you have) will do more for you than anything else you can do at this point.

my guess is that you are not the first one that has experienced a problem with the product; my 2nd guess is that the manufacturer is aware of this.

          good luck.

As they say, **** happens. Sometimes we just get a defective product, which sucks, but the real test is how a business responds to these sort of problems. Give them an opportunity to shine, and they just might. I suspect they will.

I would think that worse comes to worse you can get DD to send you a new allen screw, and then drill it out. Although, I agree that they should take care of it for you.

So far, things are going smoothly. They responded to my emails promptly.
They want me to send my rail in so they can ship another nor out for me, or charge me one and they will ship one out and refund me the money once they receive my return.

I was hoping for some discount but oh wells, better than getting stuck with a bad product.

I'll let u guys know once the whole deal is done. I still think they should inspect their items so things like this don't happen. I know Daniel Defense makes great products, but if things like this never happened, they would be even more awesome.

Good to hear that they are doing the right thing and making sure that you get a product without any issues. You may want to mention to them the possibility of Six Sigma (99.99966% of the product are defect free) or there are only 3.4 defects per million units produced.
