I would go with the 6-9. I did buy the 9-13 and it is way to tall for me when I am shooting from the bench.

The leg notches allow you to extend the leg at 1 inch increments which gives you a solid rest to shoot from. Check out the S version.

Not sure about the Smooth version.

              IMHO.... go get Harris BRMS.....

              ie.
BR: 6-9" I shoot bench-rest and prone.... 6" for BR, 9" for prone....
M: leg notch + spring deploy(1 click, it will spring extend from 6" to 9")
S: swivel, and you can get a swivel-lock for like couple bucks

A lot will also depend on your build (for prone) and the type of stock you have (prone and/or off bench)

Conventional stock such as on my M40A1 may require a 9-12 (normally set on 9) to get the front up to make up for the angled rear of the stock, on the other hand a flat bottomed stock (such as my AICS) needs only a 6-9 for both prone and bench.
I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.
