How do you guys feel about these safes for about 5 bills. My dilemma is that I want to spend about 800-1000, but I have to charge it cause of low funds. I'm getting edgy about spending that much though. I feel like I might have to go lower. What do you think?

Winchester safe at Costco

The safes are made on China. I was looking at one at my local Costco and the welds on the hinges looked pretty bad. The bead on the welds had a lot of slag holes in it. Could have just been that safe only but who knows. There have been a few threads here about the electronic locks freezing up and stopped working. Me personaly, I would buy another type of safe from costcos web site but not that one. One made in USA. Remember "you get what you pay for".Cowboy Action Shooter

Might want to do a search here for info, been discussed (pros, cons, reviews) many times.
+1 on the Costco Bighorns. I bought a 6030EL six months ago and very happy that I paid the extra $$ and got it over the Cannon or Winchester.Barry

I've got the Costco Winchester safe and it's been fine so far. It's well secured to the wall and floor and it's out of sight so I think I'm fine. It certainly isn't as nice as some far more expensive safes but it keeps the kids out and would be a PITA to haul off. I also don't live in the hood, or have a grow op in my house so I'm not expecting trouble either......Originally posted by Daytripper63"Looking a bit angry, he asked why I thought it was a Republican truck. I saw it today and was pretty tempted, but then I remebered Costco has some new deal where you can only take stuff back that you purchased in the last 6 months. I'm not gonna lie, I have a $200 safe, a 100 pound dog and a security system so i can't talk smack on the safe, it's gotta be better than the gun cabnit i bought, which would hopefully hold out helen keller until I could get home and bust out some Chuck Norris.booted for "thread crapping" on $1 7.62x39 rounds & $2,000 M&P Sports. The Winchester safe is fine and a good value. It's not a vault, no, but it's good enough. A serious thief looking for guns is going to have a couple of guys anyway to get that safe out anyway. It's good for slowing them down enough for the cops to get there once they trip the alarm that I sincerely hope you have installed in your house!"San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"
