I like the brigade quartermasters house brand with their "special" cloth. They cost a little bit more, but I think they wear well.

What's the difference between BDUs and the 5.11 TDUs?

The 5.11's are what my LE unit uses and I am very happy with them. I often have to get down and dirty in them and they always clean up well and resist tearing. They also are very comfortable.

Good to know! They are not expensive and I've heard some great things about them.

Get someone you know with a military Id to buy some for you at the clothing and sales at the post/base near you. Can't beat the price, and hey, they are IR resistant!

Ooh... That might be a bit harder to achieve...

BDUs sold at AAFES / MCX / NEX aren't that cheap, are they? I'll ask my dad to do a quick price check tomorrow when he's at work (he works at the March AAFES), but I'm pretty sure they're about as much as commercial stuff.

What is the main difference between the three different 5.11 TDU fabric blends? The cotton canvas and nylon canvas differ by $10, but the top model with I can't remember which blends jumps by $30...

I have two pairs of the 100% cotton canvas pants in black and they faded extremely fast.
The 5.11 Tactical Tactical Pant are the Original Tactical Pants and have been worn by law enforcement, EMS, military, and fire professionals for generations.

The 100% nylon canvas is the way to go. They are more confortable. The hold their color very well and the breathablility of the material is great on warmer days. The fabric also dries faster than cotton. Worth the $10 extra.
Shop durable 5.11 Tactical right here at LAPG. Enjoy extra comfort while on duty with 5.11 tactical clothing that is functional, breathable, and moisture-wicking. Buy now!

Both BDU designs are identical; only the fabric differs.

The TDU's are of a different design than the BDU's. The cargo pockets are bulkier. Rear pockets are different. I bought a pair to check them out but have not yet worn.
The 5.11 Tactical TDU Pant is a durable, lightweight tactical pant loaded with features including; cargo pockets, blousing straps, knee pad pockets, and a double-reinforced seat.

I got the 5.11 nylon canvas TDUs and am happy with it... The only thing I am a bit annoyed at are all the frayed threads coming out from the belt loops... Is this normal?
