    Cannon Safe problem

Ok I just went to go into my safe, put in the 6 digit code and can't get in? I changed the battery, still can't get in? It is not recognizing the code? Has anyone ever had this problem?

Make sure the handle for the bolt is in its fully closed position....most clockwise position before entering the code. If there is any load or pressure on the latch of the electronic lock, it will not open. Hope that's it!!

After entering your code does it make that constant low tone sound that allows you so many seconds to turn the handle and open the door? Another member on here, that lives around the corner from me, had the same issue with his Patriot Cannon safe. After calling them and having the tech. advise him to change the batteries, they ended up sending someone out to replace the electronic lock. Worst case wold be giving them a call Monday morning and having them send someone out. It's all part of the warranty and is free of charge to you. If the bolt isn't closed all the way....if the key pad doesn't make that sound....and if the 9v battey is in good shape, giving them a call
will get it open for you.
Let us know what the problem was and how it was resolved,

What brand is the electronic lock? Mine was Kaba Mas. I think they were having trouble with those. I had mine replaced 2x. 3rd time I had to have them drill out the lock. It took more than a few hours for them to do. POS. Got fed up and replaced with mechanical S&G lock. I hope yours isn't the same one. All was covered under warranty but still what a hassle. I had to pay for the mechanical lock though.

Also, I remember someone saying that the safe not being level might affect opening the safe. It tweaks the bolts just enough so that the bolts don't free up and for some reason the lock "senses" this and won't open/operate.

        Good luck!

So, did you get it open?

Last night the OP called me and I had no ideas other than trying old codes and the factory default 123456 code. He had tried 2 batteries and was headed to the store for a brand new one. I guess, if the OP really needs it open fast, I can front him a can or two of Goex and 100 ft of fuse.

Tried 3 different batteries...it is the LaGard lock, which I have found out is the better lock, but it still fails, I will try leveling and trying to free up anything? Will let you know if it works?

Nothing yet! Damn it! Glad it wasn't 3 in the morning with an intruderer coming in! Starting to re-think these electronic only locks! It needs a keyed back-up!

My old electronic safe had a key back up. You coudl take off the whole electronic assembly and then after removing it all there was a key slot behind everything. of course it took about 2o minutes to remove it all.

I had a problem with my safe that was similar but different. My safe took 4 or 5 tries to get it open. I have the SG lock on mine. I don't know if the LaGard lock has the same set up as mine but the locksmith told me after giving me a black envelope that in this was a code to override the main code. In your paper work see if there is a sealed envelope, Hopefully it's not in the safe. I don't know the hole process of this over ride. If the manual is available look in there for this override procedure or call the manufacture and I think they can help with the override. Then don't lock the safe until they can come and fix it, it is easier to do a repair with the safe open then locked..

                    Good luck

That's why I opted for the mechanical lock!

                      Sorry about your troubles.
