    Which flashlight would you suggest?

Im looking for a good quality flashlight that can be weapon mounted but also be able to carry as a handheld.
I would like for the flashlight to be able to attach a pressure switch if needed or al just keep the rubber on off button like most flashlights do currently.

I have seen a few-Surefire m640 and surefire scout lite pro.
What?s the difference between the mini and a regular sized sure fire? More lumens? Or is it that that mini surefire is just more modern and compact?

This would be for my ar build-

I'm not into weapon lights but you might check Olights, they advertise on this site and I know they have a line of weapon lights.

      Good luck on you quest.

Orders purchased in Olightstore can be returned for any reason within 30 days from the date the order was received.

Go to Fenix-store.com and look at the PD series of flashlights. I EDC a PD36R. Fantastic light. Very bright, throws VERY far and wide beam too. Can mount on a rifle and there are pressure switches that you can adapt to it.

        PD series: https://fenix-store.com/collections/pd-series

        Pressure switches: https://fenix-store.com/collections/pressure-switches

I've had over a dozen Fenix lights/headlamps etc and they've all been fantastic and still working thru years of abuse and being dropped on carpet.

You might get better answers in the subforum for lights and accessories: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...splay.php?f=74

I'm a fan of Streamlight, but not a WML guy. Their handhelds suit me to a T, but no idea about WML options.

I have several lights in my rotation that I use. I have a couple surefire and streamlights. The ones I carry the most are going to be Olights. I carry in my pocket a baton S2r and warrior2. In my bag proseeker 3 I also have a hand full of mini batons 1r and ies keychain lights. I like olight they have been very good and only had 1 malfunction. The tail cap button stopped working and when I emailed olight they didn't even fix it they just sent me a replacement light because they don't make that model anymore. The biggest thing for my EDC is the magnetic charger for me they all use the same charging system/ pressure switch. Makes it easy for charging at the end of the day and in the car. The only exceptions that the PLmini uses a different charger I think the polarites are switched for that charger.

+1. I have Surefire and Fenix. If you didn't want to spend Surefire money, Fenix is definitely one of the top Chinese brands out there. The only problem I've ever had with them is that one of the batteries on a new light I bought stopped charging a few weeks after purchase. I sent Fenix an email and they sent me out a new battery...no hassle or fuss.

The other pluses to Fenix is that they offer more lights that will run on both primary and rechargeable batteries. I really like having this option as I tend to move lights around as they age. And it's nice to be able to use primary batteries on, say, a torch for the car that doesn't get used much but needs to work when you need it. With primary batteries you don't have to worry about keeping them charged up over long periods when they're not being used.

The other plus is Fenix lights usually have a lot hight lumens than Surefire (but SF tends to be pretty conservative with their lumen ratings), and their lights usually offer several more output settings than SF...which may be good or bad depending on what you need/use.

Thanks to all who have replied so far.
I’ve been researching for a bit and one thing I forgot to mention-
Regarding non-us made flashlights, has it ever shut off or started to flicker due rifle being fired?

Handhelds I'd use: Arisaka/Malkoff, Cloud, Modlite, Elzetta. YMMV on finding the right mount.

Are you wanting one where you can buy a handheld body and a weapon mounted body and switch the head. If your talking one light and body it’s inconvenient to mount and unmount on a rifle and how do you want to mount it. More inconvenient if you’re mounting Mlok and going to have the mount sticking out on it if you carry.

Thank you for pointing that out. I would be taking the two body approach.

Sounds like more info AKA Statement Of Requirements is needed, not that I know squat about gun-lights.

on a rifle I'll ***-u-me you want more spot and less flood, but who knows.

What is your predicted ratio of hand held to gun mounted use?
How much do you expect to be unattach/reatteach?

What mounting system does your handguard have or is that still up in air?

I'm enthralled by my $150 (with extra batt) Nitecore P30i "hand held searchlight" which isn't a gun-light, isn't good for much besides being a searchlight, but does legit go out to its claimed 1100+yds depending on air clarity. That tells me its plenty doable to have a light on a rifle that is plenty equal to rifle's max "effective range".

All valid points- I threw up this question quickly at the time-
Using ris 2 rail upper for ddm4a1.
I need more spot as you say.
My current scenario is- 70-85% of the time it would be used handheld and 15-30% on rilfe.

As someone pointed out before- a two body approach might be another option so I?m not removing so often from rifle.
