    Trigger guard only pocket carry

Any views on pocket carry of a small compact carry pistol with a kytex trigger guard only with a lanyard to pull it off when deploying the pistol? I'm recovering from shoulder surgery and I was wondering if this is a reasonable and/or safe option until l complete my "range of function" physical therapy.

I'm doing pretty well but it's a little difficult to deploy my pistol at the moment out of my IWB holster. I can reach into my pocket, raise my pistol and pull the trigger just fine. I've never used a kytex trigger guard with a lanyard before.

    Thanks

    Which gun?

The P238 I believe came with a trigger guard holster with lanyard loop. Works fine for up close and personal.

Probably works, but I bet you'll find a pocket holster does several good things, keep the gun positioned in the pocket and not flopping around, less wear on your cloth pockets, less wear on the gun, etc.

Also masks the outline of the gun. I carry a S&W 340PD in a Desantis pocket holster. From the outside it doesn't look anything like a revolver / handgun.

Agree with the full pocket holster being a better option. Really dislike a lanyard, just sounds like a problem waiting to happen. Murthy’s gonna wrap that loop around the trigger sooner or later.

I use one all the time and love it. I Mexican carry it rather than the pocket. I exclusively use the UM tactical ones, they work great

I carry a P238 w/TLR-6 in my front pocket. I originally went with J&J's cargo pocket holster due to it having a separate piece of leather that conceals the outline, but I found it to be too thick in my front pocket and drew my eyes more than I wanted. I ended up cutting off the extra piece to make it more like their standard pocket carry and that helped, but I still felt that leather was thicker than what I wanted.

I am now using the SM-3 Sticky Holster and it is much thinner. It's a tight fit in the holster at first but it is loosening up. The SM-2 fits a P238 w/o a laser.

These are intended to stay in the pocket when you draw, but without the need for a lanyard or clip. I agree that the lanyard sounds like it could contribute to a negligent discharge, or possibly get hung up somehow, in the future. These larger holsters can reduce the pocket lint that the trigger guard model wouldn't.
