Safe lock, mechanical or electronic?

Hmm...
I'm in the business, though not residential. Its not a question on IF an electronic lock will fail, just when
Mechanical do sometimes need service as well, but much less often. I work on equipment sometimes 100+ years old and the mechanical locks still function great.
All that said electronic do have their place where quick access is needed. I suggest a mechanical on the main safe and multiple quick access boxes with electronic.
As always, YMMV."duck the femocrats" Originally posted by M76
If violent crime is to be curbed, it is only the intended victim who can do it. The felon does not fear the police, and he fears neither judge nor jury. Therefore what he must be taught to fear is his victim. Col. Jeff Cooper

My mechanical S&G started feeling a little sloppy after about 15 years so I changed over to a SecurRam digital with keypad and biometric about 2 years ago. I'm in my safe a couple of times a day typically. It's been flawless and I wished I'd done it years ago. My dad has a floor safe, same story. After about 30 years it was hit and miss and hard to open. I converted his over to the same digital as mine. And again, it's been about a year and flawless.Comment
