Buying a gun safe - looking for some DIY tips

basically what i want to do is get some ideas for a couple of decent ways to mount all my handguns (8) on the door of my safe - im entertaining the thought of adding a velcro panel onto the door, i really don't like most of the gun safe organizers i've seen - im looking for something that i could dedicate solely to mounting my handguns at the top, maybe 2 per row, then, a row or two for my magazines

it's not a huge safe, advertised as a 14 rifle safe, i have 3, plus the handguns

it should be more than enough room, even for future gun purchases - about the only thing i may be in the market for in the near future would probably be a bolt action rifle - other than that, im basically a handgun guy

i do have quite a bit of ammo, somewhere in the neighborhood of 5k rounds, mainly 9mm, 500 rounds of .223, and, 500 rounds of .357 that i would also like to put in the safe - alot of the 9mm and all the .223 and .357 are in ammo can that should fit inside - living in NV, for now i think its safe to say i don't have to hoard too much ammo, at least not like in CA with the new ammo laws they're forcing on you guys

he's a picture of what the safe looks like - not a huge door but enough to mount my handguns - looking for some ideas

any input would be much appreciated

Make sure to consider the depth of the guns and any hardware so the door will close. It may be easier to put the handguns in s rack on one of the shelves.

Chances are your safe is full to the brim. Using a door organizer in your safe will free up so much shelf space that you'll instantly want to go out and buy more stuff to put in that empty space! These panels hang off the inside of your gun safe's door and are a quick and easy fix to a very common problem.

I know its not fancy but it was cheap and easy and has worked well for us for many years.....

We use a couple of cheap wood dish racks, They look like wooden pegs sticking up from a wood base consisting of 2 parallel boards. Each spacing is wide enough to accommodate an individual pistol or revolver. I keep the racks on a shelf. Each pistol is in an individual silicone bore store and then placed in the rack.

In all the years we've used this system we've seen no scratches and no rust.

The only negative i guess is with the pistols covered its not immediately evident which pistol is which....but by feel i know immediately. There are label tags on the bore stores which you can use if you prefer.

I recall picking mine up at the local thrift store for $1 or so. I've seen then go new for $7 on Amazon.

Put those unused holsters from the "holster drawer" to use.
Mount them to the safe door.
