I wish I had read and understood the rating of a safe before I purchased my first safe....err....RSC

    Burglary Ratings
The burglary safe Construction Ratings were established by the insurance industry to develop a standard that will indicate the degree of protection a safe will provide against an attempted burglary attack. The most common construction ratings range from B-Rate to C-Rate.

Underwriters Laboratories was founded in 1894 and is chartered as a not-for-profit independent testing organization. U.L. has been testing products and writing standards for safety for more than a century. The most common Test Performance Ratings range from the U.L. RSC burglary rating to the U.L. TL-15, TL-30 and TL30x6 high security ratings.

If I were you, I would take my time and look through Craigslist as there's always a decent deal that pops up. I bought a used Sturdy safe from Craigslist and thought I had a good deal. That thing weighed around 650 lbs. I couldn't bolt it down into my tensioned concrete floor in my garage and it didn't feel secure enough for me. Definitely an upgrade over the stuff you buy from most sporting good stores. The scary thing is, my wife and I were able to tip it over and slide it into my suv.

Then I found a person on Craigslist selling 2 Amvault CF7236 TL-30 safes. Seller wanted only $2,200 each or $4,000 for the pair. My friend and I couldn't pass up the deal and we got the safe for $1,650 each. This thing is a monster. It even cost me $600 to have a safe mover pick it up from seller and deliver it to me. Well worth it. Now if someone can pick up and move this 4,500 lb monster, they can have what's in it.

I was a pain in the butt customer and they treated me with nothing but grace.

If anyone's looking for an awesome safe mover since we are talking safes....I had boswell safe company move a safe for me today and they were top notch great customer service....it's a family owned business and you can tell. They will get my business if I need a safe moved. Hi. Online prices do NOT represent real prices. I think the manufacturers probably have a MAP. If you are local to dean safe I'd just call them or better walk in. They will spend a half hour or more educating you all about the. Worth the time.

I think I have it down to a Sun Welding Vault Series, Sturdy Safe 6028-6 or the AMSEC BF7250. Unless I find a nice TL-30 I can make work. I appreciate all the input. I will definitely take a look at a few of the places mentioned. Would love to find one on CL but no luck recently

                    +1 on dean safe.
They quoted a price cheaper than west coast safe, which came with the free lighting and dryer pack.
WC would of charged extra for that, and they were a tad bit more expensive on the shipping.

Went to the show room in Culver City, super nice, no sales pressure, came back with nice quote, didn't pull the trigger yet.
A year later sent them an email and go the ball rolling, did it all through email.
Another super nice lady helped on the phone.
The delivery guys were great and knew what they were doing, although my installation was easy.

When you know what you want, send emails to both places and compare prices.

Thanks, I will do that for sure. I know WC has a booth at the LA fair and I am curious if they will have any deals around that time. Going to be reinforcing the floors over the next couple of weeks and then getting my order in.

Another vote for Sun Welding in Simi Valley.
Our group has purchased over thirty from them; quality, service, and support have been outstanding. A few were delivered; fast, discreetly, and very professionally installed.

Generally speaking, they have had LA County Fair specials in the past.
