Safe won't open

I've a liberty safe with NON Electric mechinal dial , no problems there I turn the dial etc and the combo unlocks and then I turn the handle it's a 3ronged handle and it turns about half of it normal travels then the handle slips sometihing is binding up , the safe almost opens but liberty has the awesome slip clutch and the handle hits a rough spot you can feel it and the it slip and just tunes without opening and guess what the smallest amount of resistance in this motherf-er slips so now I can't open my safe


Going to call them Monday but I just wanted to see if anyone has any tips , I've had this safe for about two years and no problems until now

I assume you have had someone push on the door hard while you try and open it? I'm guessing something got closed in the door.

I know. I'm with him. I'm afraid of not being able to open my safe. Tagging because I want to know what happened with his mechanical lock.

You could even press against it with your knee/shoulder while you turn the handle.

I know it's been said before, BUT DON'T EVER CONSIDER ELECTRONIC SAFES! Keep your serial number that you got when you bought it. There should also be a sticker or two somewhere on the safe with this number. You should also keep your receipts and any paperwork you got with the safe in a file. Contact the manufacturer and they should be able to handle it. If all else fails, an acetylene torch will do

Don't need and Acetylene torch to cut open a safe/residential storage container . Good luck O.p. with getting your safe open .

What the other guys said. Something might be putting pressure on it. Try to wiggle the door before even putting the code. See if there is normal give or if it feels like it doesnt want to move at all.

Other than that, give the manufacturer a call. Worse case is you have to drill it. I know a locksmith if you are in SoCal that does it.

Somebody forced the handle and sheared the clutch. It's a security feature. The safe will need to be drilled.

I tightened the clutch on mine after I had this same thing happen. You can push in on the door and hit the handle with your hand and you might get it open. After that tighten it up a bit and you should have no more problems

No electric lock here I got a mechanical for that very reason, the safe hasn't been moved in two years I did not know it had a clutch now that I know itI will never buy a safe with clutch again. it's caught up on something I can hear a lug on the right side striking something I have to call liberty if it didn't have the clutch it would open, its 3/4 of the way there so close but so far, well at least no one can nick my guns for a few days or so
