    Recommend Handheld Flashlight for Mechanic

    Hello everyone,
Trying to help my father who is wanting a new flashlight for work (he's a maintenance mechanic). He is wanting one with these features:
    -rechargeable
-high beam, low beam, strobe feature
    -comes with a carry holster

Not too familiar with rechargeables and I know many will recommend Streamlight or SureFire. I'm hoping y'all can point me in the right direction, especially for guys who use them regularly.

    Thank you,
    Vinny

I really like the Fenix line.

Every bit as solid and half the price of Surefire.

Any recommended models worth giving a look?
      Thanks for the help!

Another vote for Fenix. I've got a handful and rely on the AA rechargeable batteries.

Their RC line would fit the bill. Perhaps an RC11?

Or, a headlamp is always handy if you need to work with your hands. I use them often when cleaning up my gear after a gig outside at night. Like the HL23? It's not rechargeable though.

I'm not up on their current offerings.
I've used their headlights when working traffic signals at night.
I generally go with the AA models and use Eneloop rechargeables for the flexibility, rather than the CR123 or other options.

Check their web site, they used to have a model/features matrix.

Thanks everyone for the input. Im going to surf a few websites (Amazon, LA Police Gear) and see what is available for recommended torches. Going to pick out a few and see what the old man likes.

Keep your input coming guys!!! Much appreciated.

The Techlight flashlights branded as Duracel at Costco...

3 pack of lights that put out 350/100 lumen for around $20.

They use AAA batteries so you can use Eneloop or other rechargeable or switch to normal if needed...

I'll second this. As far as the Chinese brands go, Fenix is pretty solid. They also seem to be doing more than Surfire with respect to building lights that can run off of both primary and rechargeables. It's really nice to have the option.

Note...It's hard to recommend a specific model to you as there is a lot of "personal preference" in selecting a light. Does he want a big one or a small one...or an "in between" one? How many lumens does he want? Etc. But in 15 minutes on their website you can probably sort things out pretty well. Plus it's fun...at least I think it is.

One other thought...maybe he wants a headlight...either instead of a hand held or in addition to. They can be wonderfully convenient. And Fenix makes some bright ones too.

Fenix PD35. Powerful for checking the nooks and crannies, adjustable so you don't blind yourself reading and takes rechargables.

I wrap the base with duct tape so I can hold it in my teeth if necessary.
