Simple design flaw. Why is any part of the lock other than the panel accessible...?

Most successful security circumventions occur with physical access. Limit it.

Here, all Plore had to do was monitor power consumption in the case of one safe, and the amount of time operations took in other, and voila, he was able to figure out the keycodes for locks
Criminals are either electronics geniuses or crowbar-wielding behemoths of irresistable power.

Nobody ever believes crooks are 'regular' (if bent) people.

I'm not going to worry about this one.

it is so easy to open most RSC's that the e lock is not that likely of a target
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

My safes are locked mainly so my kids cannot get at their contents. So some sophisticated electronics person can analyze how the device works and can then crack it? I'm ok with that (sort of) because that kind of thief is not one you can really protect against. If he's got that much time in your house then your system has other issues besides the electronic lock.

Now, if my kids can hack my safes and easily get inside then I have serious problems I need to remedy.

Although I agree to a point my lasting concern would be that the data is applied to a "product" that an end user / average joe could leverage.

Think card loader or code roller for example. People that were selling hacked satellite access cards weren't exactly experts in cryptography IMO

About where I'm at. It's only a deterrent. No system can stop all criminals. It's what they do. They are good at it unfortunately.

                From the article:

I agree. I don't like electronic locks for reliability reasons not because I think someone will hack my safes.
