DIY Bunkerboxes

I just saw this website called bunker boxes and liked the idea of a wooden lockout box (instead of spending 1000k + on an actual safe). I wouldn't even spend 450$ on the bunkerbox.

Anyone make their own before? I'm looking to buy a wooden crate and just diy.

That looks pretty nice and classy in an old school way, but if you're just looking for any type of security for low money down, I would go with the free safes that I learned about in Hawaii.
(were safes can sometimes be expensive because of the shipping cost.)

you find an old metal (the older the better) fridge free on Craigslist, you put at least two good padlocks on, drill some hidden holes for ventilation so you dont get humidity locked inside.

you can even rig the power cord so it looks like it's plugged in but there is no electricity going to the fridgerator.

you could put a sign on it as a deterrent like "squid for fish bait" or "human livers and fava beans"

just like all safes, it won't stop someone who's determined but it will keep the nosey and young children from getting at them.

but as again as for classy and something you can be proud of and possibly even move around in the back of a pickup truck..

your idea beats that hands down.

Yeah, I mean, I don't really need an all metal one. Like you said people can break into almost anything with enough time. The wooden crate idea seems to be the cheapest next to an old fridge (which I'm bummed because I just threw out my old one).

Check out a gang box and modify it to your needs.

the project you are considering would be nice for accessories and other items of interest, but i wouldn't suggest storing guns in that kind of a setup. you don't have to spend $1000.00+ for a gun safe. several years ago i picked up a pristine condition OldSchool Browning Pro-Steel for $600.00 from a CL seller. the seller helped me load the old Browning onto my truck bed and i took it home, making my total price to be $600.00 otd.

DeanSafe currently has an identical gun safe to mine on sale for $1200.00 that is stated to normally be $2000.00. while that may or may not be a reasonable deal, purchasing used from a dealer may be an option for you. there are some low cost offerings in the used safe section of DeanSafe which can be viewed online.

there are alternatives that may serve you better at a lower cost, such as a CL find. there are sellers in the secondary market that are desperate to unload a gun safe, and that's the kind of seller you want to meet. the deals are out there and you'd be better served to purchase a traditional gun safe than to store your guns in a wooden container. i'm including a link to the DeanSafe used safe section which also includes the Browning Pro-Steel that is identical to mine:
