I have run out of room in my ccurrent safe and am having a hard time deciding my next step. I would like to buy a big safe capable of holding 40 plus rifles (in theory) but would have to put it in the garage due to its size. So my question is do you think its a better ideas to buy one big safe and keep it in the garage or two smaller ones and keep in the house (closer and more accessible) just seeking feedback and/or opinions

I can't get my mind around the idea of putting a safe within a few feet of my tools in my detached garage. I'm going to sacrifice size for location, but that's just me.https://www.activejunky.com/invite/132380

I think everyone's situation is different, and it will more depend on the payout of your house and the alternative options in terms of locations within the home. A friend of mine wanted to put his big fancy safe in the living room, but you could see it from the backyard from three different angles unless the blinds/curtains were drawn. The less visible it is, the better.

Measure and think around the issue we ended up pulling a full sliding glass door set to get my safe in the house. The old smaller safe is now used for ammo In the garage. Removing doors is easy to do if you know what your doing. Hire pro safe movers can make it easier with large safes. Also resupport floor as needed.Comment

I'd keep two in the house. I worry more about moisture than thieves if the safes were in the garage. A friend of mine has rust on the bottom of his safes (exterior). It draws moisture from the cement. He has since learned to place a quarter on each corner of the safe. He has two safes in the garage and two in the house. The more valuable guns are kept in the thicker safes inside the residence.Comment
