    Webley MKIV and Knife

Webley MKIV .38 marked for Shanghai Police Force (SPF)
    With holster.

Absolutely spectacular (late WWII) 3rd pattern Fairbairn Sykes commando Dagger.
I have simply not seen a FS dagger blade in this condition before.

    Mills No.36 Grenade.

1942 printing of Get Tough! Written by William E. Fairbairn
Cover embossed under dust jacket: Major WE Fairbairn

WE Fairbairn had been an Officer with the Shanghai Police Force prior to WW2, it was here he developed a lot of his unarmed combat and shooting techniques and also where the famous knife was conceived.

Extremely nice matching set, including the book on how to do it yourself!

And thank you once again pitfighter for sharing with us all a nicely photographed selection of your collection.

            cheers lads.

It's a dainty little wheel gun with a nifty safety catch.
Nicer finish than most of the Webley/Enfield MKIV's you run into.

The book is a first edition, which is surprisingly difficult to find, his "rank" increased in the subsequent re-printings.

The dagger's guard looks warped in this pics, trick of the phones optics, it's straight. (But I did go and check after looking at the pics, lol.)

Thats a great collection that appears to be a ww 2 US Navy Victory revolver holster you have the webley in? similar to the one in this picture. Enjoy your new .455 rounds. regards.

Yes, sir, the .455 rounds are in another post, looking good with this Webley's big brother!

That's a cool USN set-up, I do like the S&W Victory model revolvers.

Yes, that holster looks exactly like this one, I don't really know what set-up a Shanghai Police Officer might use, probably a British Sam Browne style, or a canvas military holster.

Funnily enough, took a long time to find one I liked for a reasonable price.

In the UK they are everywhere, great looking deactivated grenades. I've brought a lot of interesting things back from the UK over the years, but putting a dummy grenade in my luggage just isn't something I am ready to risk, lol.

So, a sad discovery here I am sad to say, the SPF is a myth perpetrated by salesmen -
SPF is Singapore Police Force, not Shanghai Police Force, so entirely a rather less glamorous and less interesting lineage and absolutely nothing to do with William Fairbairn or his knife.

                        Oh well, lol!

I post here to help educate future Webley SPF revolver collectors from making the same mistake, as this page pops up on google searches for Shanghai Fairbairn etc., and I want no part in propagating a salesman's tactic.

Interesting! But it's good to uncover the actual lineage!
