They're having some issues apparently...I've made 6 calls(with messages) since the 15th trying to find out how they lost my application only to magically find it months later and deem it "past due"...problem is they have my money and I'd rather continue to have my 03. Anyways, I'm sure we'll get it all sorted out eventually.Last edited by guns4life; 12-22-2015, 6:59 PM.sigpic

Thanks for the info guys.... I mailed the form out on 12/12 so figure some time mid January. Not sure why the 'H' we need one anyway. Thought they did a background when applying for the FFL3??

Sent my app out on the 7th and received it yesterday. Not too long at all.Comment

Yep, got mine back today. 16 days. Now the question. Do you carry around a copy of the whole 8x11 page?? Seems kinda of redundant?? Or.... do you reduce the size in a pic editor and make smaller copies to attach to the FFL3?? Now that I've got it...how do I use it....?? I understand adding the number to the C&R acquisition form, but what about the selling dealer??Last edited by condor; 12-31-2015, 10:19 AM.WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

You could get creative and make a double sided copy- front is the FFL rear is the COE.
I keep PDF copies on my phone in case I need to email them on the spot. I have been in gun stores and purchased without a hard copy, most have accepted an immediate email copy (that's how most non-FTF transactions are handled anyways). They printed them out and attached them to the 4473. Hard copies are kept in my records binder.
How to use it- the COE number will need to be entered in the DROS if you buy from a dealer. If you buy from private party, I always present it. You will need to provide copies (or email copies if the seller is willing) when you purchase FTF or private party. When you buy from a CA dealer and the firearm is DROS'd, you don't need to send an acquisition form but you will have to retain the dealer's information for your bound book. If you purchase from private party or out of state, you will need to retain a copy of the seller's drivers license information or FFL for your bound book.Last edited by 81turbota; 01-23-2016, 8:08 PM.C&R nut.Comment

That's a great idea. So far I've been printing 6 reduced copies to a page and stapling one to the copy of the FFL, but I like your idea better. I always carry a couple of FFL/COE's in my 'black' book.... Not real savvy on smart phone speak....WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment

It may take a little longer to mail out, as the COE is an intricately designed certificate on heavy stock parchment. It has a series of watermarks, multi-color currency grade inks, and a raised, textured seal as proof of authenticity.Comment

Like I posted previously I received it in 16 days from mailing in the app, and at one time they may have been on heavy parchment but this COE looked computer generated and on paper stock just slightly heavier than regular printer paper.WITHOUT THE 2nd THERE WON'T BE A 1st...]Comment
