    WTS- 8mm Mauser 400 Rounds-$150 Solano County

This was found at a garage sale and I have no idea how it was stored over the years.

8mm Mauser (7.92x57) approximately 400 rounds. I have not dumped it all out to count it all, but these are each 50 round boxes and they look full. Brass cased, annealed cases, unknown bullet weight.

200 rounds Interarms (South Afican) Boxer primed

    200 rounds DurkaDurkastan (Egyptian)

Gone! My uncle ended up with it, wish he woulda told me sooner before I posted it for sale.

MM headstamp is Musgrave Manufacturers and Distributors, Bloemfontein, Republic of South Africa.
The other one is Egyptian 8mm.

I thought the Interarms 7.92 MM 1942 was the boxer primed, non-corrosive light ball stuff from Canada. The Holy Grail of surplus 8mm.

        It is Boxer primed.
As far as being Canadian surplus, I'm still waiting for the proof. I've seen the story about the CIA covert ops ammo, but have to ask, if it's covert, why headstamp it at all?
It may be Canadian surplus, but cartridgecollectors.org says it's South African made.
I buy the gun/ammo, not the story.

Boxer primed South African 8mm ammo in 1942? Interesting. I thought the Musgraves didn't get into manufacturing until the early 1950's and even then they only made custom target rifles, barrels and ammo.

Thank you for the manufacturer ID, I'll update my sale post.

As for the story, can we just say the Interarms ammo was smuggled into Canada by Canadian monks from South Africa using kayaks and hang gliders??

Don't forget the time machine too since Musgrave in South Africa set up their factory in 1951.

BTW, it is written '1958' in Arabic on the box. It is also written '195' in several places which I am guessing refers to the bullet weight. The squiggle on the case is the Arabic spelling of Egypt ('Mesr'). Below that is stamped '58'.

Wish I could find such garage sales!

I thought the Interarms 7.92 MM 1942 was the boxer primed, non-corrosive light ball stuff from Canada. The Holy Grail of surplus 8mm.
It is ^^^^^^^^^^^^. The "MM" in the head stamp is for "Millimeter", not the manufacturer. It is not South African. It is Canadian.

I shot a lot of this ammo in my 8MM Mausers in the early 1970's. It is Canadian ammo. There was also a lot of 9MM ball ammo made with similar head stamps:http://iaaforum.org/forum3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16086

This information came to me through John Moss, a leading authority on 9MM ammo and ammunition head stamps who has contributed to the International Ammunition Association (IAA) web site.

I worked with John in the 1970's when he was at the San Francisco Gun Exchange.
