BOF961 and BOF4100A

So ... can anyone here tell me the differences, (other than what is patently obvious on these forms)?

1. When does the 961 need to be filled out and sent in?
2. When does the 4100A need to be filled out and sent in?
3. Any other advise or tips?

I currently have a TYPE-03 + COE.

I have just made my 1st purchase of a Lee Enfield MK-5 no.1 "Jungle Carbine". This piece came from West Virginia. I think I got it for a pretty decent price.

I really need to know which form I need to fill out and send in, and by what date.

I believe the correct form is 961? Only the 961 has the fields in it for the COE.

I am really confused.

BOF 961 is for in state long gun acquisitions. In state includes mail order to your door step. ALL in state handgun purchases (mail order too) MUST go thru an 01, so this form is not needed since the 01 will register if for you. You still have to log the handgun into your bound book as from the 01 that does the DROS.

BOF4100A is for in person out of state purchases. For example, you're at a gun show in AZ.

For your purchase, you would use the BOF 961 and you have 30 days.

I thought it interesting that one does NOT need a COE in order to purchase ANY C&R eligible firearm from out of state ... (e.g. AZ gun show). Also exempted is the C&R handgun purchased from out of state.

I am thinking ... that I will be making a trip to either NV or AZ in the not too distant future.

It appears as if California Over-Lord Laws do indeed stop at the Political border of our state.

I wonder if our dear politicians in California are currently trying to dream up a way to close this C&R out-of-state acquisition loophole?
