    Yugo Mauser value?

Found a Yugo Mauser, M24/47 I believe, for sale at $299. All matching as near as I can tell and it looks like it's in great shape based upon my relatively brief inspection but I wouldn't call it unissued. Good price for it or should I pass? I know very little about mauser values but really want one

If I were shopping for an M24, and I saw a really nice one for $300, I'd most likely buy it. Pics would help to verify value.

I was looking at that but I don't have my COE yet and this is local.

Yeah, I just seen that for reference. After you figure lgs fee, tax and CA dros $ 300 is probably a good deal

The condition of Yugo Mausers is all over the place. If it is in good condition with a nice bore, $300 is a fair price. I have done quite a bit of shooting with my Yugo Mausers and they are very handy, durable, and reasonably accurate with common milsurp ammo. Expect it to shoot a little high at 100 yards.

Bullseye sport in Riverside has one in good condition, with 165 rounds of surplus ammunition for $239.

If it looks like this one, I'd say buy it.

I don't think it's quite that nice and the sling looked like it goes through the stock rather than the keeper on the bottom. I'll probably get it. If I overpay a little I think I'll get over it. Should be fun to shoot. Did Yugo's ever have bayonets?

As the old saying goes, you don't overpay for C&R guns. You hold on to it and the value increases over time. In the not too distant future, even plain Jane Mosins and Mausers will command a premium. Oh, and all the Yugo's were fitted for bayonets. Often they come with the rifle and are of high quality.

I am a broken record on this, but that Yugo Mauser will come with a slippery banana peel fall into an endless C&R rabbit hole. My very first Mauser was an M48 bought from my good friend SKSer45. It has since multiplied quite a bit. When you start to appreciate the 8mm Mauser cartridge and the endless variety of Mauser variants chambered in it, you really get sucked in.

Where do you typically buy your ammunition for it? All of my rifles are shooters regardless of how old they are.

SG Ammo sells 8mm. The good news is that there is now new-production Romanian ammo which is non-corrosive. I suspect it's the same factory that made all the milsurp stuff, but they just changed the primer.

                            Or reload.

I've been told to stay away from Romanian Hot shot 8mm. Take a look at the bullet...it's seated WAY down there or it's a short bullet. PPU and Yugo M38 surplus feeds my 8mm rifles.

"Regular" 8mm, this stuff is yugo. Take a look at projectile length.
