C&R appraisers OC area? Pics added

I have recently acquired a few what I think are nice C&R rifles:

1946 M48 German/Yugo Mauser - Still in box from Big5 - matching numbers all accessories and still packaged.. Mint stock and bore - Looks to be unfired. - I really want to shoot this bad boy! I'm told this rifle was purchsed 40-50 years ago, faded price tag is marked $99.00. (Big 5 started in 1955 as an army navy surplus store in SoCal.)

factory 636 Norinco SKS all matching #'s - no bayonett mint stock and bore and rifling.

    1912 Swedish M38 mauser mismatch #'s - ok condition.

Mosin Nagant 1942 M91/59 Izhevsk - All matching #'s. Great stock and bore, smooth shooter.

I am sifting my through websites and symbols, marking on the rifles but would like to get some professional opinions.

Any suggestions for experienced C&R dealers appraisers in the OC area?

Chances are I'm keeping and will be having fun shooting them but would like to know thier values.

Without pictures, those prices are about what each is worth. Those types of rifles had more mass appeal when C&C without 03/COE was still legal in CA. Now they are mostly sought by collectors only. It would not be cost effective for you to pay anyone to have them appraised.

agree with bobby's ball park numbers.

The M48 must have peen purchased a lot sooner than 40-50 years ago, 99 bucks would have gotten you a heck of a gun! My guess is 10-20 years ago.
        C&R nut.

Appraiser isn't the right avenue. I should of asked if there are any FFLS with knowledge of C&R's who would be willing to estimate value of these guns. I will post pics later. Thx for the feedback.

You don't have to be an FFL to know what a gun is worth, which is why something like this would be easiest if just crowdsourced with good pictures on Calguns, I figure.

Looks pretty standard for What Big 5 was selling about 10-15 years ago.

SOG has them in stock now for $250:

If you want to sell it, I would probably ask $300 but take $250.

JG Sales has the Yugo rework K98ks in stock, which I think is a more interesting rifle.

Has the stock been refinished? It looks really shiny in the photo, but it could be from the flash.

Big 5 used to sell the M96 Swedes for $99, and the M38 for $129, which was a smoking deal. Based on the condition and the bore number (the "3" mark on the stock disk) It is probably about $300.

Between this and the Yugo, I would probably keep the one that shot better. If about the same, probably the Swede. I think the Yugos will be around for a while, the Swedes have all dried up. Cheap blasting ammo availability will probably be better for the 8mm, but the swede will be more pleasant to shoot.

Check Gunbroker.com for prices of comparable rifles. Pay attention to the prices that attract no bids and those that do. They used to let you show completed auctions to see what things really sold for, but they don't appear to do that any more. Still, if you set up a user account and "save" auctions, you can see what they closed for.

I agree with all the above comments. Also, "matching" on a 91/59 doesn't really mean anything, because they all were forced match when they were cut down by the arsenal. I've not heard of them being used in a war after that or even for training, so all 91/59's should look arsenal fresh.

Also, if the stock, particularly the stock disc on that Swede, represent the condition of that barrel, it is still serviceable but is nearing the end of its life. So between that and the stock looking to be varnished, that puts it at the lower end of values for Swedes.

There is no cheap blasting ammo for Swedes any more. I reload for mine because there is a great selection of bullets (.264) for it. Mild recoil and most are very accurate. I put a new old stock barrel (lucky to find it a few years ago) on mine and it shoots sub-moa with just a 4X scout scope. Mine had a very rusty bore when I got it so the barrel had to be replaced.

You can still sell to buyers out of state, they just need to have an 03 C&R FFL themselves or a dealer 01 FFL to ship it to. The new CA laws have definitely hurt in-state values.

                              Regards,
