Original Matching 91/30 (but mosins aren't worth anything!!!)

Usually I wouldn't post up a gray blanket auction for anything other than hilarity, but at least the rifle in this case is legit:

I think I've seen more original matching 91/30s out of this last batch this last year than I had in the previous six years.

The reason it went so high is it's a non refurb, still matching from the factory in 1943, with it's original (1943) bayonet.

It's fairly rare. Not M91rv rare, but rare.

I do......but it is an SCW model. Beat up pretty good and not all minty like that one.

Not surprised at the price it went for.

Come on, I can see the stock sanding in the pic, and I can smell the shellac from here, it's been refurbed.

Syntax has the closest thing I have seen to not disturbed stock:

There's many on gunboards who disagree, there's a big thread over there. It's legit

Edit to add: If the CCCP roundel is what you're looking at, it's weakly struck on most wartime rifles, otherwise I'd question that too.

The bolt has never been scrubbed and re-stamped, that's definitely a rare sight.

Why in the world would anyone pay that much for a standard 91/30 MN is beyond me. But then again I don't collect them or find them interesting. The only one I want is an unaltered Remington or NEW with US property stamps. I know that I will have to pay through the nose for one of those though.

I don't know. I feel the streaks you're seeing are when the varnish was brushed on. When looking at the cartouche, it seems to be original and the wood crushing seems to be on par. I'd say the stock was never sanded once that cartouche was stamped. Also, I can see the raised woodgrain

There're really no good pics of edges, so can't tell how sharp they are, but from the overall condition, I'd say edges may be rounded from honest use in the field

Would SVT-40 agree? I've tried to get better at reading stocks for signs of sandpaper
