    Ruger single six question

I didn't know Ruger made aluminum framed Single Sixes for 2-3 years in the late 1950's, just found that out.
Any idea on value compared to a steel framed single Six of that era? Only listing I saw was on Guns America and it was listed at $750 about 1 1/2 times that of other Single Sixes.

They don't come up to often as only around 12500 made. All will have serial number in 200000 range from 1956-59 along with several hundred in 1964 marked as seconds.

There were 3 different types, prices for 95-98%

Tri-color - silver colored frame with bronze colored alloy cyl, 750-1000
Black frame w/blued alloy cyl, 1000-1200
Black frame w/blue steel cyl, most common 500-700

Ready for this - original Lightweight boxes are worth more than gun. Silver box w/Green wreath worth 1500-2500 and later Black wreath around 1k.

It is amazing the values assigned to those boxes!

I've told people before how valuable original boxes can be, sometime worth more than the firearm, I think they don't believe me

Thank you very much for that detailed information, like I said I didn't know they ever made the aluminum framed Single Sixes until I saw one on Guns America for a tall price and wondered why.
