    SVT 40 Sighting

It is for sale over at Gunboards, here is the link and this is not mine but I believe this guy has a good reputation.

    5. SVT 40 41 Izhevsk Stock is stamped matching, bolt ep'ed. The nag does not matcdh. Machined for scope rails but it is not notched. This is one of the nicest SVT40's that I have had. The import mark is nearly impossible to see. The stock while it might have been sanded is still quite full and thick, not over sanded. I will get pics up today. $650.

I noticed his post when it appeared yesterday, that's a decent deal in the current market, not surprisingly it's marked sold today.

Hopefully somebody here got it from here but they never last long, in a week or less but if they are "SA" marked they don't last two days.

Is it even possible to find one in decent (functional) shape for less than $500? I have looked everywhere, but no luck. Most on the auction block sells for more than $700, more if it has the Finnish SA marks.

Not in CA you won't find one for under $500. North Carolina, maybe. But people are fast becoming wise to the price jump, nationwide.

This SVT showed up on Gunsamerica a few days ago for $675, looks like it has seen a lot of use, but it is SA marked, typical Finn mismatch. Don't know if he sold it yet.

A local gun shop owner promised that someday he would locate a svt 40 for me .....well yesterday was the day. It is a 1942 Tula (non SA) plum bolt but the stock and receiver match. Good, bright bore with cleaning rod and bayonet. The deal included a sling, some brass stripper clips, two extra mags and 200 rounds of Wolf. I was very pleased for 640.00.

                That's a great deal!
I have been looking, but have yet to find one in my area. Probably have to go online to find one... if I can overcome my dislike of online $$$ transaction (sending more than $600 in money order to a private individual I have never seen before).
