From what I saw, that Winchester is in remarkable given that is has probably spent upwards of a 100+ years directly exposed to the elements. I would be interested to seeing what ammunition, if any was loaded in the magazine... That would be a better indicator as to how long the rifle had been out in the elements....Poke'm with a stick!

They might find the last owner near by. I am thinking someone forgot it at their camp site (unlikely)or more likely they put it down for a minute and then something happened and there it remained.
