First purchase on Gunbroker

I paid more than I wanted to but someone else wanted the same rifle. I guess I wanted it more.
Now on with the quest for ammo.
I grew up in Holland and had to ride my bicycle everywhere. I figured a Dutch bicycle troops carbine was appropriate for my collection.

i've always been surprised the dutch didnt have more interesting and unique arms. they've always been wealthy, they've always had that northern european respect for quality... you'd think they'd be more like the swiss and have their own?

Interesting rifle. Where are you going to get ammo? I assume you plan on shooting it? Let us know how it shoots, I am curious. Should have a stout recoil.

Bolts are smoooooth on those aren't they? I think Dutch Mannlichers are interesting and high quality. I see that steel cased German occupation ammo around at shows fairly often. Did you buy a clip yet? They are on eBay. I have one like yours and a 303 Brit one from Indonesia.

I should have bought the long one I could have got for $200 OTD in 2013 but lack of ammo I guess kept me away plus I had already bought like 6 guns that weekend.

Oh and I think you paid about what they go for you didn't get taken. My favorite video on YouTube is that American dude in the Netherlands that washes his hands in the urinal by mistake. Among my favorite cookies are those Dutch speculoos windmill ones. I recently purchased a Dutch Mauser but I'm probably going to sell it.

I'm afraid to fire it, 18" barreled 8x57! Has the Queen Juliana crest. 6.5 recoil is not that bad even out of the carbines. Americans generally don't appreciate the 6.5 calibers I like them.

I will look at Ebay for a clip. I am still desperate for ammo. Havent touched the rifle yet. Auction ended today.

Those odd calibers are hard to find in a brick and mortar store. I try to stock up a bit when they're available, like grafs. Once you have the brass, the next hardest thing would be to find dies. So you may have to do both concurrently, because you may be stuck with brass and no dies to reload with. Just my 2 cents.
