would you shoot this 8mm Mauser- Updated post 21 full pics!

looking at this 8mm Mauser here and have some concerns about the pitting on the Barrel. obviously it's been blued since the pitting happened.

I don't think it was blood by Bubba but rather by the Arsenal the changed it out 8 millimeters.

if it looks okay to shoot let me know and I'll go pick it up after taking a look under the woodline

My No5 Enfield has similar pitting under the wood line, one of my favorite shooters!

if the bore is clean I think you're G2G.

Yes, without a doubt. It is ugly pitting, but not dangerous by the photos.

I think pitting looks awesome, as long as it's on your gun and not mine

                      Shoot it up.

Totally safe, and somewhat normal for a weapon that was issued during that time.

Before shooting remove the hanguards and action from the stock and look at the area that contacts the stock, it can have narly rust. The stuff on the surface does not concern me, it's what you can't see that counts. If it's good I would say good to go if the chamber is bright and the bore looks sharp.

He disassembled the rifle and sent me tons of pics. It looks better under the wood! Very very minor surface rust.

Picking it up today, will update thread with pics

You didn't mention specifically what model that is, but if it is Portuguese and was converted to 8mm, it must be a 1904 Verguiero, correct?
