I posted this over on surplusrifleforum in the MN forum as well in case you frequent there and get wierd deja vu
This is a 1939 Tula M91/30 that I bought through IO Inc's Christmas '07 special. It shot like crap after I cleaned it,
so I shimmed the receiver and sanded the barrel channel to float it (typical Mosin fixes) and it shoots ok now.
The Shellac was beat up pretty bad so I stripped it, stained the birch with Minwax #222 Sedona Red, and refinished
with a couple coats of 50/50 mix of Mineral Spirits and Fornby's Tung Oil Finish.
It came out real good (to me at least, may look ugly as hell to anybody else) so I took some pics to share. Turns out it even has a hint of tiger-striping:
