These guys go through so many Mosins with their alterations and torture tests... Its almost upsetting.

Though I do agree, this is a pretty tasteful bubba job. That stock especially.

An M39 can (and do) shoot those groups with handloads, no need to bubba.

I just spent $350 on a used Tikka T3 in 30-06 that can do that all day long, and I didn't have to dick around with anything. It is lighter, has a better, smoother action, and machined/built much better. Plus, I can get my money out of it if I decide to sell it.

Mosin's are what they are.... I don't understand why anyone would spend time and money chopping one up to end up with less than they would if they just went and bought a rifle that did what they were trying to get the Mosin to do.

Making something work is a hell of a lot more fun and interesting than buying something stock that does the same job. You get something unique (usually) and have a good time working on it, and in the end you usually love that weapon much more than one you simply bought.

I bought an "extra" mosin couple of years ago just in case I ever wanted to play.

That stock was good looking although the rail seemed way too long. Hmmmm.

This is a valid question. Why bother? You can find not just used Tikkas, but also used Savages at that price that'll do it, too. Heck, there's the Ruger American series with a street price of about $350, and that's brand-new.

And this is the answer. Same reason people put aftermarket body kits on plain-vanilla cars (e. g. older Honda Civics) to make 'em look all sporty and such. Same reason why they turbocharge and otherwise soup-up said cars instead of just buying a new Mustang. Same reason why I like renovating older houses. 'S'fun!

Unless I am mistaken, that is just an M91/30 with a PU scope and mount. Not exactly the same thing as an entirely PU setup with matching numbers as intended for the role of a sniper.
