Out of 10 day jail- 1941 SA Podolsk SVT40 and Tikka M91

My COE can't come any quicker can it...

    Anyways!
I started a thread about these two after the Costa Mesa gun show, here they are back at home.

The SVT is a Finn mixmaster, but it has a fantastic bore and gas system. Not import marked. Plus it's a Podolsk!

The M91 is a Tikka, with a like new mirror sharp bore. Finn matched, typical mix of early/late parts from the major Mosin factories. Beautiful two piece Finn stock with a very crisp Kupio (AV3) arsenal buttstock number. 1905 Tula receiver. Imperial eagle is there, cool. Tiny import mark underneath barrel. Sling was a nice bonus!

              Follow the gunshots around Barstow

If you follow them and end up in the ghetto, wrong place!

Congrats, those are great finds. I'm hoping to see them at one of our upcoming shoots.

Isn't the SVT a Kovrov Arsenal? Not many were made by them

My understanding is the Kovrov (as it was originally represented to me by the seller) is an older understanding of the rifle, recently it was shown that Podolsk, a suburb of Moscow, produced the SVT 40 while Kovrov produced aircraft machine guns along with other medium arms.

Honestly I have yet to find a definitive explanation other than Internet forum jabber.

I've known that mark to be that of the Kovrov Arsenal... hmm...

Heres a post from gun boards with references to Soviet archives with factory# 460, Podoslk. Also shows a bunch of other SVT's made at factories I have never heard of.
I want to know which year each maker produced SVT-40 and SVT-38. As far as I know SVT-38 were made in 1939 by Tula and Izhevsk. No sniper SVT-38 were issued. SVT-40s were made from 1940 to 1945 by Tula, Izhevsk, Podolsk and Zlatoust. But which years were covered by which makers? SVT-40 snipers...

I take all of this with a grain of salt, as I have not seen the actual Soviet document or can't prove it's real. Seems like there is a lot of grey between Kovrov and Podolsk.

                            Those look like winners. Congrats!
Have fun shooting them, and give us a report on how they ran.
