Has anyone tried one of these on a Mosin Nagant?

I recently looked into using an AK mount on a SKS and found that AK side mounts are not really suitable for other types of rifles because if you look at where the side rail is riveted to, on an AK, it is almost at the bottom of the receiver, right above the trigger group. This means if you tried to attach the AK mounting side plate onto a Mosin, you cannot get the plate low enough on the receiver, which means the scope on the side mount will sit way too high above the action of the rifle.
The Weaver Converta-Mount with S2 shotgun side rail would probably make a better scope mount for a Mosin. Here is one I fitted to a Yugo M59/66. I bought a new Weaver Converta-Mount & S2 Scope Mount for a Mossberg 500 off Ebay (although it really doesn't matter which shotgun it's designed for since you're going to cut the Converta-Mount side base, anyway) for $15 delivered.

I cut the side mount down to 4.25" by 1" and drilled and tapped it into the receiver. The S2 side mount then just screws into the side plate. It of course, has the same benefits as an AK mount, of being detachable, without the scope losing zero.
I cannot see why a similar adaption cannot be done to a Mosin Nagant.

There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

As for scoping this M59/66, I feel have commited no sins here. I bought it as a stripped barrelled action and built it up from spares I had laying around, so the majority of the serial numbers don't match.
I already have a very nice M59 with matching numbers which is staying original.

You mean this photo from 3 threads down?
The guy built it as a joke from a beater Mosin Nagant and some AR spares he had left from a build.
