    My cARcano-15

So this is an acquisition from my LGS. 7.35 Carcano SA stamped

Needs some cleaning love and a new stock. Exposed metal is has slight rust pitting. Metal below the woodline is just fine

Story is a lady came in with her recently passed away husband's rifles. He had them from before they were married (married for 50 yrs). Lady didn't want them anymore. I'd bet he did the forestock mod

After some CLR and 0000 steel wool cleaning. It was all surface rust

It would be nice if you could fully restore this but unless you got it for next to nothing it is going to be expensive relative to it's worth. Did you already source a clip and ammo which is already a problem. I wish Prvi would make 7.35.

Prvi makes brass, hornady makes bullets, although they're out of stock everywhere right now. Primed brass from Grafs is cheaper than unprimed, lol. I've loaded it with great success, and since he only paid $30 for it, a resto wouldn't be too big a hurt. I got one in similar shape(much cleaner metal) for free and spent about 100 bucks or so to get what I needed to get it looking right. Are you coming to our shoot this month swan? You really should, we bring out a ton of cool stuff.

I lost any interest in shooting at WEGC. Non Finn 7.35's are rarer but I prefer the Finn ones due to the history. I've also owned the 7.35 cavalry Carcano and the ultra rare troop special in 7.35.

I got it for a few bucks. Knucklehead is searching for a stock for me to buy

I do have 2 clips. Just need ammo

It's always nice to find a project gun for a good price.

I saw some Carcano stocks recently when I was looking for some parts. I'll see if I can find where it was.

Sarco might have a stock. Or Springfield Sporters.

Looks like someone got the Mossberg 351 inspiration.

Ballistically the 7.35 should be a better round but where can you find correct dia" bullets?

Does anyone even load this round?

                  What's wrong with that stock?

                    Cool!

If this is a Model 1938, Paul Scarlata's book, Collecting Classic Bolt Action Rifles notes that in 1940 the Italian government sold 100,000 of these to Finland in 7.35mm. Congrats, Very cool!

P.C.I. loads it now and then. Hornady occasionally makes a run of bullets. Most people just buy .308 bullets and resize them with a Lee bullet sizing die.
.299-.300 is correct diameter for these guys.

Liberty Tree has stocks and handguards but they're not cheap. I've managed to grab them here and there on the auction sites. I have a Finn-marked m38 short rifle and a 7.35 cavalry moschetto. Still working on finding a T.S. in 7.35, and 8mm.

My first attempt at a 7.35 handload was a lucky success and I haven't changed it a bit. Shoots well in both my 7.35s. 6.5 is a lot harder to load for, because there's so much variance in the 6.5 rifles being that they were made for 50 years, some out of recycled old parts.

It's still possible to find Italian ammo for it, however, it sucks. It does come with the clips though

A TS 7.35 will probably cost you dearly. In my experience the surplus 7.35 still mostly works fine the 6.5 surplus ammo is only good to pull for components.

I bought a bunch of it back when it was about 50c per round, and I still see it at around $1/round.

And yeah, that's why they moved to 7.35 - they couldn't get a handle on QC with 6.5 suppliers.
