I recently took my new CMP M44US to the range and with certain ammunition I am getting failure to fire due to light strikes.
Using American Eagle 38gr. hollow points I got maybe 6 light strikes out of 100 rounds fired. After re-cocking, all rounds fired on the second try
Not a single CCI CB would fire in the rifle no matter how many times I tried. The brass must be harder because the pin strikes are not nearly as pronounced as on the American Eagle cases.
I have never had a light strike in any other .22 rifle and I have fired thousands of these rounds. I fired all of the CBs right afterwards in a different rifle, so the rounds were not duds.
Even after disassembling, cleaning and oiling the bolt, the CB's still will not fire.
Does anyone else have this problem? I am thinking about a stronger firing pin spring, but I also want to know if this is a common thing.
Edit: 38gr. ammo not 36
