Replacement Luger magazines

My Interarms Mauser luger 9mm came with one magazine. I have tried several different aftermarket magazines with indifferent results. The problem with those seemed to be a soft spring that is easier to load but can't keep up with the cycling of the action so they periodically will hang up the action or fail to feed.

I had read that the Mecgar magazines are the best Luger replacement magazines available but alas, I wasn't able to find any. I recently checked CDNN investments and they have them in stock so I ordered one to test it. Tried it today and it works perfectly. I was so impressed that I ordered another! Not cheap, $29.95 plus shipping but it is great to have a couple of spares.

If you are in the same boat as me I suggest that you move fast on the CDNN Mecgar magazines.

You can get extra power wolf springs that might fix your other mags. I got them for a couple mags I was having the same problem with. It fixed them but they are harder to load. They sell both round and rectangular. http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?...s&cID=1&mID=38

Since the bottom portion of the magazine is pinned in place how do you get it apart to replace the spring?

Thanks! I thought the pins were pressed in permanently. I'll give 'er a try. This pistol is my absolute favorite to shoot and the most fun next to the C96 that I used to have and sold (darn!).

I love my Luger and it shoots well but I am glad my life doesn't depend on it.

Anything other than original or MecGar is junk and should be thrown away. I have four MecGars for my 1942 byf and they function perfectly.

The Luger is so sexy looking that even my wife recognized that. She had some glamour photos of her done and she is holding mine in one of them. No, you can't see the picture!

If you think $29.95 is expensive, you should have seen what they were going for a few months ago when I was looking for some spares. There were none to be found. I managed to find 4 of them at a gun show for $40 each and was happy to pay that.

Did you use the factory rating or the plus 10% spring?

I used the plus 10%.

If you don't have one of these http://www.keepshooting.com/luger-tool.html you might want to get one after putting +10% springs. Loading the last round in mag will make your thumb sore after a few reloads with out it.

Thanks! My Luger came with a magazine tool so I'm in good shape. Otherwise the magazines would be impossible to reload. I wonder how many Germans dropped their tool in the mud and were left with only being able to stuff several rounds in the magazine but not the full load.

I use the tool, but an empty shell works just as good.
