    SAR Show Phoenix - Review

Got to the SAR show in Phoenix this afternoon, people are still setting up but I had a chance to walk around for a while. Found an awesome deal I couldn't resist, only $24,500! Will need to rent a Uhaul to bring it back, anyone know if i's Cali legal?

Only joking, that would be pretty cool though eh? The guy selling it wasn't there, I'll find out how much he wants for it tomorrow morning. So far I saw some ok deals, didn't buy anything yet. Will post some updates tomorrow

Now that would be great to haul out to the next C&R shoot. I'll bet the range hasn't seen the like of one of those before. You could set it up next to Baboosh's Maxim and blast away.

      Great stuff!

I guess as it was likely never registered as a rifle, the short barrel is Ok - lol.

It was a good show. The only C&R I picked up was a 1954 dated Tula SKS. Nice hard wood stock and no refurb markings. Looks like the previous owner (old guy) didn't ever shoot it as the gas system and bolt face are unmarked....

                No pics yet...

I also picked up a super nice Maddi AK kit with it's original barrel. It also looks like a unfired kit.

Modern rifles I bought a EX Arizona DPS (Highway Patrol) Bushmaster M4A3 carbine. The vendor had purchased 100 of them from DPS. Some were like new. For $600 I couldn't pass that up. I had to hold back from buying another the next day.....

From the same vendor I got a used EX DPS Colt AR 10.5" Commando A3 upper with carrying handle and BCG. A steal at $350.

For yucks I got a ATI Omni Hybrid AR-15 pistol and a SIG brace. Pretty cool, and will now be my new Home defense "Pistol"....

Saw some friends and had a good time!!!

There were a good number of C&R's but anything in excellent condition was pretty highly priced.

You missed the live PaK 40 FOR SALE outside the SAF building on the other side of the military vehicles.

I saw Wolf steel case 45 acp for $25 a box. $550 S&W 916a shotgun, a total POS. $375 old Taurus clone of the model 10 S&W. So old it wouldn't be covered by warranty. I saw a sporterized MAS36 for $375. Playing spot the biggest ripoffs can be fun.

I found some stuff for myself but was much better last few years. I came back with 50-60% of what I'd normally find.

I was able to get .50 BMG M33 ball ammo for $2.75/round and I found a great deal on two LNIB M2 Heavy Barrels. I picked up one of those Arizona DHS (highway patrol) bushmaster AR 15 carbines for $600 and one of the DHS HK93's for $2900. Both going into the gun safe in my Phoenix home.

I find it strange that most people aren't posting about all the good deals they got at SAR. I have a feeling most calgunners didn't get much and what they did get was priced as high or higher than locally or on Gunbroker.

Didn't really see what I was hoping for at the SAR show regarding C&R long guns (particularly German WW1 long arms), but I did come away with another FAL - an Imbel Gunplumber build that I plan on turning into a Para.

Other than that, I got myself a 1917 bayonet, a 98/05 "butcher blade" bayonet, some slings, an L1A1 cleaning kit, and 3,500 M80 ball bullets for reloading for less than 10c a piece, which I guess was my best deal considering .308" M80 ball is at least 15-17c a piece these days.

I didn't see many older WW1 style Mauser's either. I almost bought a cheap sporterized antique Argentine Mauser of all things. Got a bunch of Vietnam era m41 38spl ball for $10 a box. Other stuff too but not C&R. Did the math I saved about $600 after expenses over typical pricing but usually I do better than that.

I saw two Gewehr 98s, one was okay (sniper variant IIRC), the other one had problems in which the trigger guard and base plate was from an Argentine M1909. I also saw two Kar 98AZs but both were rough. One had an incorrect bolt from a K98k, but at least the seller acknowledged that.
