    Want an affordable C&R 1911.

Ideally, US Army. But I understand those tend to be spendy.
I want a good shooter, in decent condition. I like the look of holster wear on a C&R handgun.

Someone posted a link to a site that had Colt 1911s that were fairly worn, but from a good source, and I think police issue in brazil? I googled all over and couldn't find it.

I think you are looking for a "sistema colt 1911"?

You'll find mixed reviews about the Sarco 1911 offerings.

I bought a 1930's commercial Government models from them a couple of years ago. Mine had 0 finish, but no pits--useable bore, new springs. Function was 100% and it was an excellent candidate for the project I had in mind.

I believe all the Sarco offerings are well used--if all you want a "little holster wear" these ain't it.

Not 1911s but the guns that came to mind from your post are a star b (j and g has them) and the battleship metal 1911 is called a Molina and I know those are around too.

              I did get a star b recently! It's a ton of fun.

Actually the NEW ones made in the Philippines are pretty close and are of very good quality. Shot one and was impressed.

You mean RIAs? I have a modern 1911 (springfield loaded target) already.

As stated, the cheapest I've seen actual Colts go for has typically been the Argentine contract guns, although they typically have almost no finish left. To me, a big part of the allure of a pre-war Colt is the bluing job they used to do so I have mostly been haunting gunbroker. It looks like a budget of $1500 or so will eventually get the job done, but you'll need to watch out.

Otherwise, refinished or otherwise permanently modified guns can run cheap. I picked up an Ithaca M1911A1 a year or so back for under a grand because it had been reparked. That might be a good way to look.

I checked and J&G still has the Star B Spanish guns and Sarco has the Molinas from Argentina, both pretty cheap. I've read great reviews for both.

The Molinas from what I understand are internally more similar to the Star rather than the 1911.

This Colt went to Argentina but was actually made by Colt in 1940. It
has a numbered slide,Swartz safety, and it's original finish. Kinda strange
it went down and back and stayed original, including a two tone
commercial mag. Pistol barely has an idiot scratch! Pete
