Is there a particular advantage or special treatment of C&R aged suppressors? I know they died off en masse here after the passage of the NFA--as such was the intention-- but they didn't totally blink out of existence. I gather there were quite a few made during WWII and also lots in other countries because they have had no such artificially stunted relationship with them as we have here. There must be a few of them out there at very least. Is it easier to go about grabbing one of such with a C&R? Any way around a lot of the ridiculous hinderances which are applied to new ones?

C&R suppressors?

No C&R exemptions for suppressors in CA.
However, if you were in a suppressor-friendly state and had a C&R FFL, I think you could receive C&R suppressors in intra-state commerce without having to use an in-state dealer. So, it would save you $200 by making it a one-stamp transfer instead of a two-stamp transfer.Jack
Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

IF a suppressor is present and part of the description of a C&R listed gun AND you have a C&R license, you can take delivery of the gun AND the suppressor directly. Is there a particular advantage or special treatment of C&R aged suppressors? That means you still have to fill out the appropriate atf paperwork, take the pictures and prints, and submit your request to the atf along with your check for $200.

However, CA's ruling on nfa items makes that impossible.
Ergo, if you reside in the prk, you are way sol.

Hanko is correct.
Just as an aside anecdote, there was an article in Small Arms Review (I think) that was about one of the oldest, if not the first registered silencer in America. It was an old Maxim silencer that was registered early on and has been used ever since by a meat processing plant for putting down cows.Comment

*Sigh* Another item on the list to change this place from being a wretched dictatorship to part of the real America."You can't stop insane people from doing insane things with insane laws. That's insane!" -- Penn Jillette
