Looking for black powder and percussion caps in San Jose area

I'm looking for FFFg (or equivalent) and no.10 percussion caps.

I've called Bay Area Gun Vault, Kerley's, Reed's, Sportsmen's Supply, Annie's Guns and I even called Target Masters (argh). Nobody has either.

Does anyone have any suggestions on other stores that might have what I'm looking for?

    Imbert and Smither's perhaps?

I thought I saw FFFg Pyrodex at Sportsman's a week or so ago, guess they are out (or that you want real black instead of a sub).

It's a drive but the Bass Pro in Manteca almost always has black powder substitute and 50% chance of percussion caps.

The closest place you can get REAL black powder is in Jamestown.

If you can find powder but absolutely can't find caps and don't want to buy them online (hazmat!) I'd be willing to sell you a tin or two, just PM me. I'll only gouge you a little but I'm way up in the east bay and wouldn't be willing to drive very far.

Edit: Postscript - Cabelas has Remington caps in stock right now $80/1000 and 3F 777 powder for $28/pound or Pyrodex for $20/pound. If you're getting into this seriously I'd just put in a big order and eat the hazmat/shipping and be done with it.

That's actually what I did today, I ordered a bunch of powder and caps from Cabela's. Enough to keep me supplied for quite some time. I can't fire black powder nearly as fast as my AR

Thanks for the offer though! The $20 hazmat is not a large price to pay if you order enough stuff.

Cool, I'm glad it worked out for you. And yeah, the cost per round almost doesn't matter when you're shooting relatively few rounds. Some of us even aim and everything.
