    Recieved my COE

I recently received my COE. It was just a regular piece of paper. I was expecting something more official like my FFL03.

So is it normal that the COE is on normal printer paper?

Yep. They're cheap bastards at the DOJ. My COE last year was at least on peach-colored paper, but my 2014-2015 renewal was on even cheaper normal printer paper. It wouldn't surprise me if I spilled water on it the ink would splotch up because it was printed on a cheap desktop inkjet printer, not a laser printer.

Yup, the thing looks cheaper than a dime store diploma.

        Congrats!

How did it take (was it a renewal or 1st time application)?

I applied for mine about a month ago and still waiting

Thanks, it took just over a month for me.

My original a few years ago and the past two renewals have all arrived in under three weeks. Which is mighty impressive for a California bureaucracy.

I actually managed to get one of the actual processors on the phone when I inquired about COE turnaround time because when I had applied for one, I was concerned about the processing time. It took me about two weeks from when I sent the form and when I received my COE, but this was in 2013.

Mine also came in a few weeks. You need to contact them....something went wrong....probably nothing serious...

                  COE

Yep ... it is on the cheapest of paper.

I immediately scanned a copy of mine onto my hard drive. I then reprinted the thing on better quality paper.

Scanning the thing allows me to make any copies I need for presentation to the gunshow ... or for emailing to out-of-state FFL for any C&R long gun transactions.

Give them enough time, and the SOB's will want to start emailing it to you, and have you print it out-and if you can't print it out and want them to generate a hard copy for you, they'll want another $10.00 in extortion fees.
