    Hakim question

I saw the thread for 2013 but did the law change on importation to California since Jan. 1 2014?
    Thank you

I am not sure that I understand your question. BUT, I am aware of no changes to the law that would prohibit a CA resident from buying a Hakim Semi Auto Rifle in 8mm on Gunbroker today and having it shipped to his CA FFL just like any other rifle. I do not own a Hakim, but I've been thinking about it a lot and for that reason I'm pretty sure that I would have noticed if a change to the law made purchase impossible.

If I did not answer you, please repeat your question with more specifics.

If your Hakim was produced before 1964, if you have an FFL03 + COE, the rifle can be shipped directly to you but you would then have to send in the self registration forms and a $19.00 fee to the State. If you don't have your FFL03 + COE, yes, you would have to take have it shipped to an FFL01 here.

I am not sure of the of the year. The rifles owner did not know it was a C&R. I figured it was legal just like FN49. I have a C&R with Coe. Thank for the information.

Just find out the year, if it is 1963 or older, you are in luck and can save yourself probably a few bucks over all of the FFL01 charges. Everything I know about Hakims is that they were made in the 1950s through the 1960s but I don't know the exact production years. Post pictures when it arrives and of course, make sure it doesn't have a grenade launcher, although I don't know if Hakims were issued with the GLs.

The owner does not know the year of it. I am pretty sure its on the C&R list but pretty sure does not keep you out of jail. I think I am going to miss this auction. Darn shame since the price was way better than anything I have see in California. (even after shipping)

Edit: I am wrong. According to the book I received with my license (ATF 5300.11) the Hakim is on the list. So is it still the 50 year rule here or did that change to the ATF list here in California after Jan 1, 2014? I am truly confused with this state. It would be nice if DOJ had some kinda of packet like the BATFE sends you with your license, but I guess I am just being silly.

If it's on the C&R list, year of manufacture doesn't matter.

Pic borrowed from SVT-40 here. This is how to date it.

Yes, its on the list, it is legal as a C&R in California, one of the few gun positive things that changed this year. Albanian SKS too!
