    Rolls Royce of Israeli Mausers

    Israeli Fans,

Look at this Polish receivered Israeli Mauser. Scroll down till you find it. Found a beautiful Israeli M24 bayonet on their website. $1500 for the Izzy Mauser. http://www.collectiblefirearms.com/RiflesMauser.html. A2

      Shooter.

      Shooter,

I wish. I am cobbling together an excellent barreled action/stock/sling combo. The rifle will be on its way Monday. The stock is coming from Washington state, the bayonet from NC, and the sling from Maine. But this is a Rolls Royce. $1500, wow. A2

I like the Yugo "Officer Presentation Grade Rifle" farther down the list.

Kind of over priced....Additionally that vendor seems to always use some sort of dark tinted oil on his rifles, which gives them a much darker appearance than original.

It was funny in the description it says "The cleaning rod is missing."

7.62 Israeli Mauser's were not drilled for a cleaning rod, and none were issued. Instead the Israeli's issued a separate cleaning kit which contained a bore pull through.

Would be VERY careful with this seller. Don't know about the Israeli K98, but the Chinese contract k98 down a couple of spots is a complete BS rifle. The receiver is a Chinese copy of a Chinese contract Mauser receiver. The barrel is a later addition. Stock is a Yugo capture and the trigger guard is a late war German piece. In short, its a parts gun only worth the price of its parts.

"if it has a mauser banner receiver you can look at the M & the R to determine if its real or a chinese copy. on a real banner mauser the left side of the M & the leg of the R are almost straight, while they are curved on the chinese copy."

NOTHING on that rifle is from a Chinese contract Mauser. If they a capable of this level of BS on one rifle, I would not trust anything else they say.

I have my eye on that Yugo M48 which is a steal for $2,675.

                  Duely noted.

                  Gents,

I do understand what you are saying, caveat emptor. The crack at the Yugo was funny. A2

I would never buy any collectible gun over $500.00 without the advice is experts like SVT, timdps and others over at Gun Boards and the other collector sites.

The same rifle, in the same condition I paid $250.00 for except this one has the special "turned down bolt"! Yeah, that makes it worth more than ten times as much. Oh brother, this blew this person's credibility for me. It seems as if all of his guns seem to range from considerably to massively overpriced.

I paid about $225 shipped to my door for this bent bolt and matching mint Yugo 24/47, which is about as minty and pretty looking as any Yugo Mauser I have ever seen.

Getting a second opinion on pricey finds is always a good thing, but at the $500 range you can't get in too much trouble. Any Mosin PU Sniper will cost that much, just as any decent non-capture K98 or minty Finn would.

In fact, I have long since hit the Zenith of collecting the things that I want and have started to downsize a little bit and focus on quality rather than just volume or deals for the sake of deals. The last few C&R's I bought just because they were cheap have ended up being regrettable (Arisaka T99 and Polish M44).

On the other hand, I picked up another Finn M39 and a Finn M27 today. Both are in excellent condition except for somewhat dirty / frosty bores, which I spent a better part of the afternoon cleaning and am starting to see them shine again.

Not sure about that stock. No grasping grooves. All the other Israeli solid beech replacements I've seen have grasping grooves. And the barrel band spring is all wrong for an Israeli. It should only hold the rear band, and the front is pinned. Makes me think this stock is other than Israeli.

Nice rifle, but not $1,575 worth of nice, to me.

Lot of odd variations of Mausers ended up as Israeli reworks. The one I heard of I wanted (but it was NFS) was a WWI Gew98, reworked to short rifle config for WWII, then reworked again as an Israeli. Just thinking where all that thing fought made me want one like it.

                            Regards,
