    Sight Recommendations

(OK Purist don't get all upset)

As I get old-er - so does my eye site and with some of my milsurp rifles esp my Yugo 24/47, I having am having a hard time with getting a good site picture with that tiny rear site (Those yugoslavs must have had great eye site!). With my other rifles; like the enfield or the m1903a3, I have no problem - since they have rear sites that are easier to my eyes.

And no I DO NOT want to sell them

Anyways I digress, I am looking for suggestions for alternate rear sites:

    Scout/Long-Relief Scope?

Does someone make a different rear site that easier on the eyes?

Also whatever it is, I want:

    * Something that is not permanent
    * Easy to install (I'm not a gunsmith and don't play one on TV!)
    * Looks good (not putting something hideous on a milsurp rifle)
    * Not cheap junk that won't hold a zero (why pay good money for crap?)

    All serious recommendations are welcome

Instead of a scope or peep sight, what about making an appointment with an optometrist (if 40 or over 40, need to see an opthamologist).

You need to baseline your eyes - keep your prescription so that you know if the vision is going bad or status quo. My script changed after nine months, and I haben been tracking the changes for about 4 or 5 years, can't remember, different issue

Anyways, ask your optometrist to calculate the script for your shooting prescription and this will be based on the rifle's sight radius. That sight radius is the distance between the front sight post and your aiming eye.

If you use your daily vision/eyeglass script then that aint gonna fly for rifle shooting since that is designed/optimized for distance.

The other alternative would be to get a no-drill scope base that screws onto the sight, and put a long eye relief scope on it. No drilling/tapping required, and no need to cut/weld the bolt handle.

        S&K makes those mounts:

I hate the sights on the M24/47. I'm currently thinking that I can replace the front sight with a firesight (or just a plain square blade) and get a second rear sight which I can file into a nice U or square notch.
