    X54R ammo

I got some x54r at my favorite gun shop and i can't figure where it's from.
First one, has two crimps for the bullet on the casing, the bullet and the casing are the same color (or atleast very close) with the headstamp 38 over 38 with maybe a B or a sideways W.

Second has a silver bullet, and the headstamp V P T over 27 and one over 28, it LOOKS like brass cased

VPT is finnish, I wouldn't shoot that. It's worth more as collector ammo.

              ammo

Short of re loading nothing comes close to the cost of shooting 7.62-54r. get it while you still can. it will end just like most other cheap WW 2 ammo.

How right NOTABIKER is. Stock up while it's still (relatively) inexpensive, and it's creeping up a little as we keep going. I know there's new-manufacture Tulammo rounds, but those are Berdan-primed and just over $10/box. Careful shopping will get you Boxer/brass Prvi rounds for $15/box, so, once the milsurp dries up, it'll worth it to go Prvi. Now, if the new-mfr Tulammo rounds were, say, around $5/box, that'd be different. Or, if they were Boxer-primed like their .223 rounds now are.

As for those four Finnish rounds, keep 'em (well, at least one), and then have fun punching paper with the rest.

                  +1

get a russian spam can and stash it in the closet for a rainy day.

then go get as much brass cased 54r as you can get ahold of, that brass is gonna get more expensive when the surplus dries up.

I came into some cash so I bought a crate of x54, an extra tin and a tin of 7n1. I'm collecting when I can! Some of the Finnish rounds are a little oxidized. Still good to shoot?

You'd be surprised what collector ammo goes for.
