    M1 Build

    Don't ban me, PLEASE!

I have been contemplating building an M1A from the ground up. In my research I of course looked at SAGE Int. I wanted to keep my M1A un-neutered but then I found something which peeked my interest.

Yes, its for an M1 Garand.

Im planning on building on a receiver, not stripping a complete rifle down. Does any one have experience with the chassis.

Oh, a modern twist on the BAR.

This is like living at the South Pole. Sure, it can be done, but why in the name of all the small and large gods would you want to?

OP, I didn't know Sage made a modular EBR stock for the Garand, thanks for posting the link. I know the M-14/M1A EBR stock helps accuracy by locking down the op rod guide both vertically and horizontally within the chassis, the specs on the Garand EBR says it uses a "op rod guide" so it must replace the lower band on the Garand, I'm just wondering if this increases accuracy the same as it does on the M-14/M1A...? I suspect that it would.

The other thing you might consider is a scout Garand with a synthetic stock, there are aluminum rear handguards with rails and Bell & Carlson I believe still makes a synthetic stock set for the Garand; I've considered building a scout tanker Garand in .308 or even 7mm-08 but the later would require lathe work on a 7mm barrel blank, the .308 tanker Garand barrel is available off-the-shelf, I even bought the aluminum rear hand guard scope mount and the Bell & Carlson stock set several years ago.

Yeah, this stuff isn't for the C&R purists, but so what, to each his own, do what you want I say.
