What's the deal on 7n1? Is it really worth $260? What makes it so great?

Never found any of that special sniper ammo to fire thru my Dragunov. I have read that regular Soviet gives like 4 inch groups from a Dragunov and this 7n1 is suppose to give less than half of that - but again never found any to buy to test those results.

My Dragunov has always been a disappointment to me, but perhaps I should buy some of that - the price at under 60 cents a round doesn't sound unreasonable. Has anyone bought any? (seem to only see it for $1.20 a round now, any one find a better deal for it?)

Keep an eye on LuckyGunner. I see it spiked back up but just the other day I swear it was done to $260 on their site. They must just randomly change the price back and forth to move some tins.

The reason I ask is cause I bought a tin for $260 from lucky gunner came out to $280 shipped but before I open the whole tin to test I've been looking for a pack of it to test it.

I just checked and my god it went up! Here's proof in case you guys don't believe me haha it's the email they sent.

I had some shot out of a 91/30 sniper, shot about 2 moa, I would assume maybe 2 moa out of a Drag considering they are a true 4moa gun with good light ball ammo.

Might be better off buying three 91/30 snipers then a Drag for about the same price/accuracy.

I've used them on various Mosin (i.e Finn M28/76 and Russian PU sniper) and PSL. They are 2 MOA ammo at best. I didn't mind much back in the day when they are only 2x more than regular surplus. At current price, I'll buy them for collection.

Get some new production PPU, shoots better and the brass is reloadable.

I may just keep it for my collection. If it's not going to improve the accuracy all to much I'll just keep it cause it's a piece of russian history. Now if only I can find some of that 7n14..

Keep in mind 7N1 has changed thru the years

You can do a whole lot better with handloads and superior modern bullets

That's true I don't want superior accuracy. I would like to smash water melons at pretty good distances and I'm sure surplus would do just fine. And I don't have the time to get into hand loading with school and looking for jobs and all that fun stuff

Got 3/4 -1 moa out of my svd. Is mildly corrosive. Hand loads 3/4 all day but available bullets In 310 is limited. Usually 174 gr.The 7n1 is 148 which the dragunov likes. Very Geneva convention unfriendly stuff.

I wish I could find a dealer that sells it by the packs so I can test it before opening it and realizing it's horrible ammo in my gun haha

Does anyone know where I can find a video/pictures of it's ballistics? In the gel, penetration? Something like that
