LUGER P08 need help identifying one

Soo the GC on the job I'm working on brought this into work and let me get so range time with it. Just out of curiosity I looked into its markings... seems they've all been "shaved" only marks are matching parts numbers (all matching to my inspection) there's a number "62" on top and a few single numbers here and there. Also a "G" on the inside lower frame. Any ideas?

It is a pre 1938 model that looks to be a put together. There are a lot of parts that are not matching as there are not numbered. Looks to be a nice shooter. Yes buffed and re blued.

I am not knowledgeable about lugers. Can you tell me more? Anyway to tell manufacturer? Thanks

Without markings, how can you tell whether it is a put together or a repro?

There are no repos made as they are to expensive to make. They made interarms in the 70s worth $1200 and Krieghoff just lately but these are $18k. It is prior 1938 because the Mauser hump is not present. It also should have straw parts not all black. Without markings it is not really possible to tell maker.

I would. Nothing wrong with wasr10s, but they are dime a dozen. You can pick one up any time you feel like. I have not seen a shooter-grade Luger for less that $700-$800, and you'd have to look for it.

I would do it even as a parts gun it a little more valuable the wasar. I would put it about $700 range maybe little more lugers have been climbing in value.

It`s just a parts gun but if it functions good and barrel is in good condition it`s worth the trade.

Trade and do it before he changes his mind. The luger is missing markings but it still is a luger and worth around $750-850.

This is why I like the C&R subforum - I learn cool info every day! I just assumed there *must* be Luger repros out there somewhere - I would not have guessed that it didn't make sense because of the cost to make the P08. Thanks!

Take lots of good pix, include all markings (many are hidden inside gun), and post over at the Luger Forum. Very knowledgeable and friendly folk there.
