Ok, so if you can't use sabots, how's that going to work once the lead bullet ban goes into full effect? Also, I better make sure that I use at least a 50 caliber the next time I go moose hunting in California. I guess the best question is - who writes these idiotic laws??

Ok that website is FUD on the "muzzleloader season" after my original post it had me wondering that in the last 7 years we got a actual season for muzzeloading but we don't only special hunts..

So the rules only apply to special hunts you can use whatever type of muzzleloader you want during regular rifle season

Yes, correct, sabots and such are legal in the regular season where modern guns are allowed. You have to go by stricter rules for the special season hunts, which are kept a little bit more in line with traditional black powder gun methods.

All the modern items-sbots, pellets, scopes, etc.-are fine for the regular seasons. I for one am glad that the muzzleloader season regs are what they are.
A lot of the states east of us specify traditional muzzleloaders only as it should be. Quit whining and accept the regs as is...IMHO.

How so? You just use a lead ball as always, or if you are in a condor area, you use a lead-free ball. Yes, they may shoot at a different point of aim. And yes, they are expensive. But how many are you planning on shooting?
